Sanadin Kenan Part 1 Complete Hausa Novel

Amina and her grandmother, together with Inna Zulai, Ilya’s mother and Goggo’s close friend, whom Goggo had called so she could help her listen to this strange story—or rather, this shocking and unsettling news Amina had brought her.

“If not for this stubbornness of yours, Amina, how could I ever have peace of mind knowing you are living in a different place from me, when I know very well I have not married you off?” Goggo said, full of worry, her voice low and troubled.

Inna Zulai said, “Of course he wants to marry you so that you can take care of the daughter he loves most.”

Amina shot Inna Zulai a sidelong glare, seeing that she was only making matters worse for her. She adjusted the way she was sitting.

“Goggo, it is because of my work. We are professionals who are hired to go into people’s homes and take care of someone suffering from paralysis, if the person can afford it. And I have not left my government job; I will only be granted a one-year leave, during which I will stop receiving my government salary and instead receive the salary of those employing me. Please calm down, Goggo. I will come home every weekend and return on Sunday evening. Besides, there is a married woman in the house. And Goggo, this government house is far beyond anything you are imagining. It is so big and spacious that unless you deliberately go looking for someone, nothing would make you run into them.

“My salary will be increased fourfold, Goggo. Before long, God will fulfill the wish I have concerning you. Let me do this work, Goggo, if you truly believe you raised me well. Wherever I go, I will be able to take care of myself, Goggo. By God’s grace, I will show the good upbringing you gave me, and I will not bring you shame. But that will not be possible without your support, encouragement, and blessing, Goggo.

“For seven years that I studied at the university, you never heard anything shameful about me. Is it now, just because I want to go and work for one year, while spending every weekend with you, that you are worried? When I went to Gombe for national service, you did not show this much concern, Goggo, so why now, when we are even in the same town?”

Goggo sighed. “Amina, people and their behavior change like the weather when they come into wealth and luxury. I am afraid for you—afraid that by entering that world, Amina, your character and the upbringing you received may change...”

Before Amina could say anything, Ilya greeted and came in. In her heart, Amina thanked God, because she was sure that the one who would help her in this battle against these elders, who feared the world and all that is in it, had arrived. She too believed there was some truth in what they were sensing; she was only defending herself because she wanted to do the job and because she wanted the dream she had for Goggo to come true.
