It was a vast, terrifying forest—there was no sign of life at all, not even animals. The place was covered in deep darkness, clearly it was night. You couldn’t even see your own fingers because the trees were extremely tall and had completely covered the area, blocking even the moonlight from reaching the ground.
In the distance, I spotted a long road cutting through the forest, dividing it into two. The road stretched endlessly, without a single bend, and everything around it was pitch dark—you couldn’t even tell whether there were turns or not.
Slowly, I noticed a light approaching me. It was a black car moving gently along the road. From its appearance, you could tell it belonged to someone important. It moved calmly, suggesting the driver was relaxed and composed.
I kept watching as the car approached where I stood. Inside, I saw an elderly man, around 50 to 55 years old. He was dressed in traditional attire (shadda), with a neutral expression on his face. He had a phone to his ear, clearly on a call.
In a calm voice, I heard him say, “Relax, please. Nothing will happen to me. In about one hour, I’ll be back in town. It’s just this meeting that delayed me.”
On the other end, I heard a woman’s voice saying, “Abban Kausaar, please come back to town. You know there’s no security these days, especially in the forest. Please return before something happens to you.”
In a soothing tone, he replied, “Please, calm down. Insha Allah, nothing will—”
He didn’t finish his sentence before gently hitting the brakes.
“Abban Kausaar, what’s wrong? Why did you stop?” the woman asked, noticing the sudden silence.
Softly, he said, “I’ll call you back,” and ended the call, placing the phone down while staring ahead.
What he saw was a young man standing with his back turned. He was dressed in black clothes, with long hair flowing down to his neck. He was holding a jump rope and skipping calmly, completely at ease.
The man recited the shahada, thinking it might be a jinn, especially seeing someone alone in such a terrifying forest, casually jumping rope.
Slowly, he opened his car door and stepped out, his heart pounding rapidly. Carefully, he walked forward and said, “Young man, what are you doing here alone? Are you lost?”
The young man suddenly began to cry, yet continued skipping rope. “Uhm… uhm… Leave this place,” he said.
The man slowly stepped back, reciting protective prayers.
Suddenly, the young man stopped, raised his head, and burst into a sinister laugh. “I’m human, not a jinn. Your prayers won’t help you.”
The man’s heart pounded violently, and he immediately turned to flee.
But as he turned, he saw another young man sitting on top of his car. He too was dressed in black, wearing a black face mask. You couldn’t even see his eyes because of the darkness. One leg hung over the side of the car, and in his hand, he held a gun.
In a trembling voice, the man said, “Please, let me go. Please, let me go. There’s money in my car—take it, even take the car, just please let me go.”
He almost broke into tears as he spoke.
The one behind him said in a childish, whining tone, “Uncle, you won’t play with me?”
The one sitting on the car continued, “You’re lucky—not everyone gets to play with Cookie. Cookie, do you want us to jump?” he said, glancing at the boy behind the man, suggesting that his name was Cookie.
