If we return to Unaisah’s side, she was guarding Danish like a watchman, watching his every movement. At that moment she was lying beside him, resting her head on his chest, with her hand placed on his flat stomach. She lay there quietly, inhaling his scent and repeatedly closing her eyes as a heavy sleep tried to pull her in. Time kept passing without her noticing—she hadn’t even prayed. She was completely lost in the moment and relaxed.
Suddenly she heard the voice of an elder saying, “May God make him wake up.”
Her heart skipped in shock. She opened her eyes wide and quickly sat up, staring at the glass door. Slowly, the door began to slide open. In a panic, she crawled off the bed and hid behind the room’s curtain, crouching like a frightened little queen, her body trembling like someone who had lied to a king.
All of them entered the room—starting with the Prime Minister, Sheikh Imam, Chief Owais, the Big Guy, Salsabeel, and Boss Man. They stopped at the foot of the bed, their eyes fixed on Danish lying there.
Unaisah, hidden behind the curtain, felt her heart pounding as she remembered that she had left the buttons of his shirt open. She knew they might notice and realize someone had been in the room. She kept biting her fingers in regret for coming in.
“He still hasn’t woken up?” the Prime Minister asked, looking at Salsabeel’s face.
“Yes, Your Excellency. But if you want him awake, we can wake him. He can go back to sleep afterward if needed.”
“No, I don’t want to disturb him. I’ll wait until he wakes up on his own.”
With surprise on his face, Boss Man said, “How did the buttons of his shirt get undone?”
As soon as he said that, they all quickly looked at his chest, which was exposed. The situation confused them.
“Did he open it himself? Or did someone come into the room?” the Prime Minister asked, clearly unsettled.
Sheikh Imam said, “I don’t think he opened it himself. It must be either by God’s will… or someone entered the room after we left.”
“Who would enter?” Big Guy replied. “All the children are gathered in their rooms. Unaisah is in her room, Ummi is in hers. There’s no way they could cross their boundaries. And the male relatives went to the mosque with us.”
Their anxiety grew. Chief Owais, who had been silent, slowly scanned the room with his eyes before lowering his gaze to the bedsheet. It was rumpled, clearly showing someone had been on the bed.
“His bedsheet is squeezed, which means someone came into the room after we left,” Chief Owais said. Immediately they all looked at the bedspread—it was indeed very wrinkled.
“But who entered?” Boss Man said. “Could it be something evil?”
Worry was obvious on the Prime Minister’s face. He looked at Sheikh Imam beside him.
“My mind hasn’t been at ease since we went to the mosque and left him alone in this room.”
In a calming tone, Sheikh Imam said, “In sha Allah, nothing has happened to him. I’m certain of that.”
After Sheikh Imam fell silent, Big Guy said,
“Sir, please give me a chance to check the CCTV footage. That way we’ll be able to find out if someone else entered the room.”
Chief Owais was quiet for a moment and was about to respond when his eyes suddenly fell on the curtain, which was gently moving. He instantly realized someone was hiding there.
“There’s no need to check the CCTV,” he said, raising his voice.
“Come out!”
Her heart dropped. Even though she hoped he wasn’t talking to her, she knew.
“I’m commanding you to come out from behind the curtains. Don’t make me repeat myself,” he said firmly.
Hearing this, they all turned to look in the same direction Chief Owais was staring. Pure shock filled their faces as they saw the curtain moving.
“Whoever this is, their body will tell them they made a mistake entering this room,” Big Guy said.
The Prime Minister stared intensely, waiting to see who would appear.
Boss Man shouted loudly, “Will you come out, or should we shoot you with a bullet?”
She almost wet herself. Sweat poured from her body, and she trembled badly. Though she had done nothing wrong, fear overwhelmed her. She felt like if they caught her in the room, they might suspect something—especially because she had unbuttoned his jalabiya. They might assume she had some hidden intention.
“Whoever you are, come out properly and reveal yourself before we get angry,” Big Guy said.
Silence—there was no sign that the person behind the curtain would move.
