That is exactly one of the reasons I want to send them there — so they will learn what real life is and focus on their studies. You see how she behaves here; hardly a week passes without the school bringing complaints about her.
But over there, she will have no choice but to behave. And if she doesn’t, she will learn quickly — especially if she doesn’t want to receive unnecessary punishment.”
Hajo said,
“I think this punishment is far too harsh for them. Why don’t you find them a school where they can go during the day and return home, even if it’s one that ends at eight in the evening? At least they will still sleep at home.”
Mansur replied,
“Hajo, if I take them to such schools, it will only make them more stubborn. You know those schools are mostly for children of wealthy people, and they hardly do anything for themselves — everything is done for them.
And what is the difference between that and what they are doing now? They already return home around six in the evening. Didn’t you hear the saying: Abu wasn’t born before Bukar was separated? (meaning things take their proper course).
I will send them to a government school so that they will learn sense.”
Hajo opened her mouth in shock, almost letting saliva drop before she quickly controlled herself and said,
“This decision of yours is really wicked, Malam. How can you send them to a government school where there is barely any care, let alone security? I honestly disagree with you on this matter. Please think about it again.”
Seeing that she was about to argue further, he said,
“Alright, I will think about it. But we will still discuss it with Abba when he returns. By the way, Hajo, do you still have that fura? I know Daddy never gets tired of buying it for you.”
Hajo laughed and replied,

Mansur said,
“Haba Hajo, why would you say that? If it is marriage, Insha Allah I will marry. The woman I love has not returned yet. She is abroad studying. But Insha Allah, when she returns, I will present her to Abba.”
Hajo looked at him in surprise and asked,
“Abroad? Malam? So you want someone highly educated like that, yet you want to send my grandchildren to a government school? Wait… whose daughter is she?”

“She is Alhaji Abbakar Sammani’s daughter.”
Hajo asked in shock,
“Sammani… the same Sammani I know?”
