Bibiyata Akeyi Complete Hausa Novel
She was sitting inside the place, but her mind was far away. Anyone looking at her would know she was in deep distress, which failed to hide and showed plainly on her pretty face. Deep in her heart, she wondered if she should go and find them to know the reason for this *pursuit* and harassment they were subjecting her to.
Immediately, another part of her mind quickly warned her, because she did not know if they were evil people.
"But if they were evil people, they would have harmed you long ago," another voice told her. She let out a soft, slight hiss. "By God, I'm even scared of them," she said in a tearful voice, resting her head on the table in front of her.
Who were those people anyway?? What were they looking for from her??? What crime had she committed against them that they were *pursuing* her life?? Realizing she had no way to get answers to her questions, she simply stood up, grabbed her handbag, and made her way out of the restaurant inside the school toward their lecture hall. Catching a single glance, one of them signaled to another to get up and follow her. Seeing this, she bolted out of the place without even staying to pay, because her worries wouldn't even let her order anything.
As soon as she went out, she noticed she was being followed, but that didn't rattle her because the tracking had already started. She went directly to the hall where they were supposed to have their lectures and found that the lecturer had already entered. Fortunately for her, he wasn't a strict one, which made her quickly slip in and find a seat beside her friend, Amira.
Amira whispered in her ear, "I've been calling your phone; where did you go and leave the phone ringing uselessly? I thought you would miss attendance."
She cared nothing at all for all this chatter Amira was talking about while she was under pressure. She simply stood up, changed her seat, and told her, "Go to hell."
As soon as class was dismissed, she didn't even pay attention to Amira and walked out. Besides, that was their last lecture for the day. When she went out, she wasn't surprised to see them because she knew trouble was brewing.
She went out and headed home. Even when she took a Keke NAPEP, she saw them following her until she got close to entering her house before they turned back.
Upon entering the house, she let out a heavy sigh of relief.
She entered with a greeting and found their father, who had just returned. She knelt down respectfully and greeted him, wishing him a restful time. He replied with a cheerful face, then she stood up to leave. Just as she started walking, I heard him say, "*Hanna*."
"*Hanna*," I repeated the unknown name again in my mind, thinking to myself that the name was quite fast. She turned back politely and with composure, saying, "Yes, Baba?" He said, "When you go inside, call your mother for me." "Alright," she said, turning around.
She continued walking with composure, passing by, when she heard a conversation that scrambled her thoughts, terrified her further, and plunged her into distress. She brought her ear closer to the doorway of the room and heard Hajiya Lami, whom they called Amma, saying:
"Well, the malam's work is progressing nicely and it's effective. Look, ever since I had him send a jinn to this girl—the one that would prevent her from getting married—until today, nobody has ever shown up to propose to her. As for her peers, everything is in full swing, and we are just waiting for the wedding. But as for her, it's just quiet like someone sent a servant to their hometown." Finishing her statement, they high-fived and burst into a demonic laughter. Not waiting to hear them say anything else that would upset her further, she walked past, feeling so dizzy that the steps almost made her fall.
As soon as she entered their mother's room, she threw herself onto the bed and let out a lonely cry that stirred the listener's soul.
Her only saving grace was that Mama wasn't in the room, which allowed her to cry her fill. Afterward, she stood up, washed her face, performed ablution, and prayed Asr, offering continuous supplications seeking protection from the evil of humans and jinns.
Mama was in the kitchen with Inna Kaltu, their maid, boiling water for Baba's tea. "Hey, Inna Kaltu, look, your daughter has returned from school."
"I haven't heard her since; she hasn't come to tell me she's back yet, Inna Kaltu," she said. "Indeed, I haven't seen her; I suppose she hasn't returned." So spoke Mama, carrying a short-lived worry in her heart.
A boy of about 12 years old gave a greeting. "Mama, they said you should come; it's Baba in the parlour waiting for you." "Alright, tell him I'm on my way."
She went out carrying a tray of tea in her hand and headed to the parlour, where she met Baba reading a newspaper. Her greeting made him drop it and take off the glasses on his eyes. He answered the greeting, then she stepped inside, sat down, poured the tea, and handed it to him. He took it, sipped it a little, and cleared his throat. Mama turned to face him, as it was obvious the conversation he wanted to have was important.
"Tell me, Halima, what is wrong with your daughter? Lately, I've been noticing she's never relaxed and has no peace of mind. What's wrong with her??" Hmm, she drew a long breath. "By God, Alhaji, these days I've been looking at her the same way and can't figure out what's wrong with her. Alhaji, I even think this girl—could it truly be people's spell, or perhaps a jinn has married her?"
"Shut up! Don't let me ever hear that talk from your mouth again!" Baba warned quickly. "I believe some blessing is *pursuing* her life. You are her mother; you ought to go and find out what her worries are."
After she finished her prayers, she refused to lie down and began to doze off, seeing what looked like a human shadow over her. She woke up in a panic and............
Who in the world is *pursuing* *Hanna*'s life?????????
Who exactly are those people pursuing her youth????????
Did the jinn that was sent to her truly reach her, or is there some hidden matter?

She felt as though there was a human shadow over her. She woke up in a panic, and at the same time let out a sigh of relief upon seeing Mama standing over her.
She lowered her gaze and said, "Welcome back, Mama." Without replying, Mama found a place and sat down, then said, "*Hanna*." She raised her head and looked at her in a soft voice, saying, "Yes, Mama."
"What is bothering you? Tell me, because I don't like seeing you in distress." She forced a weak smile and said, "There is nothing at all, Mama. What did you see?" Mama remained silent, fixing her eyes on her and studying her mood. You know how a mother is; no matter how hard her child tries to hide their distress, she will know when they are troubled.
"*Hanna*," Mama called her name again, making her lift her head from the lowered position she was in. She then said, "Yes, Mama," and continued, "I am your mother. If you think you shouldn't tell me your troubles, is there anyone else worthy of being told besides me?"
She forced yet another weak smile and said, "By God, Mama, nothing is wrong. It's just my head aching, and besides, the semester has reached its middle and studying is getting intense."
"May God grant you relief. Take some medicine and then rest." Mama said this not because she believed her daughter had no real worries, and not because she was certain she would take the medicine.
"Mama, I'm going out."
