Here is the English translation:

The Governor and some powerful businessmen — heartless and merciless people who only cared about themselves — were gathered together. They were angered whenever any trader reduced the prices of goods. According to them, the poor deserved no sympathy. The five of them were in a meeting room at the Government House discussing how to destroy Amjadu. All of them had listened to his speech that day, and they were deeply disturbed when they heard that he had opened two companies abroad in addition to the one he already owned locally. It had now become necessary for them to figure out how to bring him down.

Alhaji Sunusi, the wealthy one, said, “I think we should join forces with his workers. Let’s offer them a lot of money and tell them what we want. We want them to secretly sabotage whatever products they produce in the company — so that everything that comes out becomes low-quality and unreliable. From there, the public will notice and begin to avoid him.”

The man nicknamed “Mai Citta” adjusted himself in his seat and smiled wickedly. “Your idea is good, and it’s the one we should adopt. We must find a way to connect with his employees. Once we soak them in money, they will do whatever we want. What do you all think?”

They all agreed, and the meeting ended with each of them full of satisfaction.

She was sitting in the parlor as usual, while her house help, Iyami, sat beside her telling stories about her village. He greeted as he entered the parlor. Iyami, a kind elderly woman, warmly welcomed him and teased him playfully. He sat down on a chair and greeted her. She responded cheerfully, then quickly went to the kitchen to bring him food.

Granny looked at him without praise or excitement and said, “You big man, wandering around everywhere without a family of your own — don’t you feel any shame? You’ve reached a ripe age yet you’re still playing around.”

He frowned and replied, “Whenever I come here, it’s always marriage talk. Am I the only one in your sight?”

Granny said, “If it were only about me, you would have finished me long ago. Look at you — as if you’re not strong enough. Your future wife will report you to her family.”

He adjusted himself and laughed quietly, knowing his grandmother’s blunt nature — she never held back her words. Before he could speak, she continued:

“If you’re not well, tell me so I can find medicine for you. We can even go to Iyami’s village; I’m sure they’ll find strong herbal medicine for you. What’s the use of a big body and muscles with no strength? Hmm? Men like you — your wives suffer in silence. Outwardly you look like men, but inwardly it’s frustration.” She finished her words under her breath.

He smiled charmingly and said jokingly, “Actually, I’ve been unable to tell you that I’m not well. Please go to the village and find me that strong medicine.”

Granny looked at him seriously, now worried. “So you, big man, have been suffering from this problem and all you do is eat, drink, and make money? Oh! So that’s why every woman brought to you, you say she doesn’t suit you. Now tell me — how do you feel in your body? Do you feel desire for women at times or not?”

Granny stared at him with concern, her mind now fully troubled.
